Brittany Olson - Coach and Trail Runner

Hi all! So you’re here to learn ALL about me…ok, not all but hopefully you learn some cool things and see what I’m about.

Since you’ve made it this far, I’m assuming you know I’m a mobility and strength coach. I have been an athlete my entire life. I always had a ball in my hand and I got my first glove when I was 3 1/2 years old (oh yeah, it was that Rawlings glove signed by Dave Winfield). I loved and still love the feel of dirt underneath my feet and how strong I felt on the field and on the basketball court (yeah, this shorty played that too). I did some strength training in high school but it wasn’t consistent. Then came college where I played 4 years of softball. During my junior year, I transferred colleges and in the off-season we were able to go to the YMCA and lift. We were given workouts to do and I jumped in. Within what seemed like a couple of weeks (it was probably 4ish), my body was changing. I had always thought I was strong but now I was being intentional. This was very traditional weight lifting: squats, deadlifts, bicep curls etc. I FREAKIN’ loved it! Not only did I like what I could physically see, I had more energy, I was fueling better, I was happier and more confident AND. I was encouraging other ladies to do the same. Little did I know how that would shape my adult life especially in terms of trail running.

Now 17 years later, I’m still at it. Sometime in that 17 years, I also started incorporating mobility movements (think dynamic stretching) before my strength workouts. When I tell people I was a lifter before I was a runner I get one of two responses: ‘Oh really? I couldn’t tell by your legs’ (haha, I take that as a compliment!) OR, ‘Really, not a lot of women start out lifting’ (also taken as a compliment). Over the years I have built training programs for people but not in an official capacity. But as I’ve gotten older (and potentially wiser), I want to help more women build mobility and strength, gain confidence, become empowered and know they are kick ass. One of the BEST parts of coaching is seeing another woman walk into that gym or pick up a weight knowing she’s got this. I love helping others see they are capable of more than they ever though. I love and hurt at the same time when a woman is open and says I can’t do that and I get to say hell yeah, you can. I am stoke to be a part of your journey because mobility and strength will help you throughout your entire life.
